“I wish it would all just end.”
“I can’t keep going another day like this.”
“Life would be easier for everyone if I just wasn’t here.”
Do these sound familiar? They do to me, too – they have been my thoughts throughout my life at different times.
Suicidal ideation is a genuine struggle of millions around the world. It impacts those who look like they have it all together and have no reason to be sad or down about anything.
If this is you, you don’t have to wait for a monumental reason to feel motivated to stay alive. Sometimes, that is asking too much. Save this post to look back on when things get dark. It was a post like this that saved me a few years ago during a particularly heavy time, my hope is that this can do the same for you.
Stay alive to:
See a sunset you have never seen before
Taste a meal you’ve never experienced
Make someone smile you’ve never met
Watch your favorite movie just one more time
Enjoy a really good cup of coffee
Curl up with the softest blanket you’ve ever felt
Breathe into the hug of someone you love
Listen to a song that hasn’t come out yet that will hit like nothing ever has before
Curl up in a bed with fresh, clean sheets
Experience the feeling of someone washing your hair
Laugh so hard your stomach hurts
Listen to the waves on the beach
Smell freshly cut flowers
See a landscape you’ve never seen before
Make a child smile who hasn’t met you yet
Sleep in
Stretch your body
Taste a fresh piece of fruit
Keep someone else alive
When you can’t imagine making it for years more, make it one more day… then one more… then one more….
If you can’t imagine continuing in life, reach out, and we will not shame you or make you panic. We will walk alongside you to help you move forward and figure out what your future looks like. Your life isn’t over.
