About Natural Balance Counseling

Natural Balance Counseling is a client-focused counseling practice located in the heart of The Woodlands. We understand that each person comes into the counseling room with their own stories, struggles, and strengths. Our approach focuses on finding and harnessing the potential through the pain in every situation, making your future path much clearer and more straightforward. This means we work towards identifying the problem, planning a course of action, and taking each step one at a time to find the peace of mind that will create harmony in your everyday life. Whether providing a safe place to explore one’s new-found self, coaching parents through childhood struggles of all ages, or helping relationships reconnect in new and exciting ways, we believe in using a one-step-at-a-time approach.

Alyssa Webb-McCune, the founder of Natural Balance Counseling, has been a part of the Houston community for over a decade. She understands the unique variety of her neighbors and tailors her style for each individual that walks through her door. Her passion is providing a safe and supportive space for clients and clinicians to grow and be the best version of themselves. She understands that going to counseling for the first time, or starting back after a rocky first attempt, can be intimidating. She works hard to ensure everyone feels comfortable and heard in a caring, judgment-free space.

Meet The Team:

Alyssa Webb-McCune

Founder / Licensed Professional Counselor

I feel honored and privileged that you are seeking our support. I am Alyssa Webb-McCune, a Licensed Professional Counselor and the owner of Natural Balance Counseling.

I know it’s not a matter of IF life will get unbalanced and messy; it’s more a matter of WHEN that will happen. I get it! I know you have been doing your best to handle things on your own, but you deserve the support to succeed and thrive in life, not just having to coast the best you can. My role as a counselor is to walk alongside you and help sort through things when the mess seems too much for one person, parent, couple, or family to handle. You don’t have to go through this alone. I believe that when you leave my counseling office, you should be able to leave with insight and skills that are practical and applicable to your daily life. I know you have a home you go back to, and I want to ensure the changes and goals we work on can be attainable.

I graduated in 2017 from Sam Houston State University with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am also currently studying to receive my Doctorate in Professional Counseling with a focus on Sex and Sexuality from Houston Graduate School of Theology. Consistent learning is one of the ways I can provide you with the best and highest quality services and stay up to date on current research and trends in the mental health field.

I am also passionate about creating a workplace atmosphere for my clinicians where they can thrive as counselors without the additional stress that can come with other environments. When I take care of my counselors, they care for their clients, and everyone thrives!

I understand that acknowledging you need help and seeking counseling can be incredibly intimidating and nerve-wracking but I applaud you for reaching out for support during this time in your life.

Life is a winding road full of many twists and turns that can feel overwhelming and can be downright chaotic at times. Sometimes, we need help making sense of the chaos, learning how to cope with it, and figuring out a roadmap for overcoming these challenges. I believe that each individual is the expert for their own life and has the ability to identify solutions for their problems when someone walks alongside them and asks the right questions to help them increase their insight. I desire to help individuals and couples of all types navigate the many issues that can arise in life including struggles with life transitions and other concerns (divorce, moving, job loss, struggles with work/life balance, family conflict, boundary setting, etc.).

I strive to provide a nonjudgmental, empathetic, and open-minded safe space for each client that I meet. I understand that each client I meet is complex and unique and I feel it is important to get to know you in all facets of your life including your values, family dynamics, attachment style, and more. My hope is that you leave my office feeling understood, armed with tools to use for coping and self-regulation, and increased insight to conquer your day-to-day life stressors and ultimately improve your overall mental well-being.

I have a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Stephen F. Austin State University. I have experience working with many different populations including members of various religious backgrounds, members of various races/ethnicities, relationships of all types, and LGBTQIA+ clients. I feel that as a therapist, my journey for learning will never end and I hope to continue to further expand my knowledge to continue to better serve my clients.

“Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom” – Viktor E. Frankl

Do you feel disconnected and trapped by the experiences of your past? Does life’s ups and downs have you frozen in autopilot, stuck in a cycle where you can’t find relief? Do you keep pieces of yourself hidden from those around you, carrying guilt and shame that are not your burden to bear? Oftentimes, the space between acknowledging we are struggling and finding the courage to reach out can feel overwhelming. Finding the courage to be brave and seek therapy is something to celebrate.

Life is full of challenges, changes, and unexpected events that can significantly impact our mental health. If we haven’t been equipped with practical coping skills, healthy childhood attachments, foundational social supports, or the ability to identify our emotions and feelings, we tend to isolate or self-medicate. When the hits keep coming, finding a therapist to help you navigate these experiences can motivate a profound shift in how you live and exist within your world. I want to help you get to a more peaceful and self-compassionate place. Meeting clients where they are, as they are, is of the utmost importance within my framework of practice.

I have a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of St. Thomas. I work with adults and couples within a broad spectrum of ethnicities, spiritual beliefs, gender identities, and sexual orientations. I am a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP) and EMDR trained. I work with people struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, family-of-origin trauma, and substance use/co-occurring disorders.

Let’s work collaboratively to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters hope, healing, empowerment, and growth.

Reaching out and asking for support is one of the hardest yet most vital parts of growth and self-improvement in our lives. This type of aid is needed for everyone at all stages of life. Therapy can not only help in dealing with the chaos life throws at us, but also help us learn how and when to ask for that help. I firmly believe that everyone deserves a safe environment to explore oneself and improve overall mental health.

I’m also incredibly passionate about advocating for the expansion of mental health awareness through psychoeducation and increasing access to quality care. In starting the therapeutic journey together, we can not only address and heal past concerns in your life, but also find ways to prepare you to live your best life moving forward with the right kind of help for you.

I earned my Master’s of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Houston.  I have experience helping clients through grief, anxiety, depression, abuse (physical, psychological, etc.), in addition to various forms of trauma. I’ve gained experience with a range of individuals from pre-teens to elderly adults within a private practice setting as well as with leading a group of adult professionals.

While I gravitate towards Person-Centered Therapy, I have also done varied training in more specialized therapeutic methods because every person is unique. In alignment with Humanistic views, I believe that each person is an expert on themselves and I, as your therapist, am here as a guide towards growth. I hope to be able to help guide you towards achieving better standards of mental health.
