Best Mental Health App

We live in a time when technology can be our best friend or our worst enemy. It tends to take over certain areas of life, but that doesn’t mean we need to eliminate all usage. Instead, we can take advantage of the resources at our fingertips!

Here are our favorite apps we recommend to our clients and personally use ourselves!

Daylio
Our owner, Alyssa, has used this mood and activity tracker for years and recommends it to almost all her clients! This app is perfect for learning more about your behavior, implementing new habits, or getting some of the benefits of journaling without having to journal. With a once-a-day prompt, you can keep track of your mood for the day and what you did. Over time, the app will be able to develop graphs and charts of your mood and activity trends, empowering you with knowledge of correlations and associations.

Paired
A GREAT tool for couples in all stages of their relationship! This will prompt conversations across various topics to bring you closer together. Both individuals download the app onto their phones, where they can find daily activities that range from serious to lighthearted to romantic. Each person can only see the other person’s response once their own has been submitted, encouraging greater transparency. The app also has a space to continue the dialogue through texting. This helps when further conversation is warranted, but due to the potentially sensitive nature, there needs to be separation from regular communication.

BetterSleep/Calm/Headspace
These three provide similar services, so you can explore all and see what you like best. Everyone talks about the benefits of meditation, but it can take time to know where to start. That’s where these come in! With guided meditation options ranging from 5 minutes to several hours, these audio tracks can start your mindfulness journey.

Alyssa uses BetterSleep and prefers it for its collection of stories along with the meditations as well as customizable sleep sounds to use while drifting off.

iBreathe
Recommended by Angel, iBreathe is a great app to help you through that therapist’s cliche of “Take some deep breaths…”

There are so many techniques and tools to help increase the oxygen to your brain, but the secret to the best one? Finding what works for you! This app can access various styles, approaches, and methods to controlling your breathing and starting you down the path of breathwork – a powerful tool in your wellness journey.
